I was in an accident when I was 6 years old, and I still remember it vividly. I don’t remember the accident itself, because I was asleep when it happened, but I remember waking up to Jesus.
He was in a whirlwind of colors, and my dog (Skuttles) and my cat (Taz), who had passed, were there with him. I asked where my Mom was, and he said she was okay, and then he took me to her and helped her carry me up the levee to the road where a fire truck was waiting.
We had rolled her truck into the Sacramento River, and her shoulder was shattered. The windshield of the truck was rolled down like a scroll, and the only thing intact was the toolbox that had a cross on it. I died twice and was brought back; I had a ruptured spleen, a broken leg, and a broken arm.
Then, when I was 35, I saw Jesus again. I walked with him, and my eyes were truly opened for the first time. He showed me things, and suddenly, it was like I could see clearly; the grass and trees were more beautiful than ever before, and I could feel the life in them. I couldn’t stop thanking him and telling everyone that he was there and how much he loved them.
My friends and family thought something was wrong with me, so they sent me to the hospital for evaluation. I asked the doctor if I was going crazy, and he said, “No, but we found a tumor in the front of your brain, so we are rushing you to a larger hospital.”
Upon arriving at Enloe Hospital by ambulance, I was told the tumor was gone, and they didn’t know why the other medical center had shown a tumor on the CT. When I got home, I prayed and prayed and asked him what it all meant, and then he revealed himself to me again. My dog, who had passed about 6 months earlier, was walking with him in a field, and he told me I would teach his word.
Ever since that day, I have studied scripture practically all day, every day (it’s been 6 years now), and it has changed my life. I was saved, and I am so thankful. I don’t know what I did to deserve such love, but I am truly grateful and blessed.
Life hasn’t been easy. I’ve had numerous spinal tumors, I lose feeling in my legs, I have hardware in my back, and many other issues, but I know it’s only temporary. I always refer myself back to 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
