Mark Jobb
Ready For Heaven: I’m Mark, and I would like to share my life story with you.
My parents brought me up in a good Christian home. Even as young as 5, the teachings of Jesus were taught to me. I realized I needed to ask Him to forgive my sins if I wanted to go to heaven.
Many people think of sin as all the wrong things we do, which is correct. But it is also a part of our lives, no matter how much good we try to do. It is like dust in a room. No matter how much you try to clean it, it is always there and will never go away.
Sin will also keep us from going to heaven. The reason for this is that heaven is perfect and has no sin. If we are allowed to enter it, then heaven will become corrupt, just as the earth is. It will no longer be a place where anyone will want to go.
Sin lies between us and God, and the only thing that will remove this is Jesus. Because Jesus died on the cross, shed His blood, and came back to life, we can now accept this and ask God's forgiveness. God will no longer view our sins but as washed and clean, able to enter heaven if we die.
A Deeper Commitment: As I said, I already knew I was going to heaven. I was not perfect, but I tried to keep my heart right before God and live the best I could. After graduating from high school, I went to Ontario and worked for a few years. I would often watch Christian television and enjoyed some programs that had aided me in my Christian growth.
I was private and never told many people, but something happened in my heart. Something churned within my heart, and I felt God speaking to me. He asked, “Will you be a church attender? Or fully devote your life to me?”
Complete devotion was a scary question because if I were to do this, I knew I needed to give up my desires and dreams. I didn’t want to, but this question kept bothering me.
After a few months, I realized I would be miserable if I did not do this. I wrestled with it, but finally gave up and devoted my whole life to God and His ways. I felt that God said to me that I would not be alone and He would help me through each fear and insecurity I faced, as I knew these would be barriers.
Over the next few years, I always remembered my commitment to God and often reminded Him of this. I was not turning back, as I knew I had committed to Him and would not rescind. I began to move to different locations, eventually living in Nova Scotia.
A few years later, I ended up at a new church where my Christian life began to grow further, and I was able to help others grow closer to God. God did two things with my life: He began to change me on the inside and set me free from so many things. He then began to use my life to change others.
I was not just a nominal Christian who attended church, but was a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. My decision many years ago changed my life and gave me direction and meaning; I have never turned back. There were some hard times along the way, but I knew many were with great purpose.
The questions I would pose to you are these: Do you desire to have a greater purpose for your life? Do you struggle with things but want to have complete freedom? Perhaps you have loved God but have only been a nominal Christian, as I was. God asks everyone to consider wholly devoting their life to Him, but we must count the cost before doing this.
As I did, I had to give up my dreams and let Him form new desires within me. I had to lose all I wanted and do it His way, which did not happen immediately but took time. If you would like to follow Jesus Christ and commit your whole life to him, don't hesitate to contact me.
