I grew up in a Christian family as an overseas missionary. I always believed that God existed and that he loved me; however, as I got older, I struggled mentally a lot- especially moving back to Australia. I developed anxiety, an eating disorder, and had major depressive episodes.
I started to wonder: would someone as perfect as God ever like me? In 2024, I met Christ. He told me I was loved and healed through him. That I would never be alone. But what did I do? I ran away from him again.
At the end of 2025, I hit my breaking point. So, I started to recover, one bite, one smile at a time. Yet I found that I was doing it in my own strength, in my own will, and at my own pace. In Philippians 4:8 it says: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I was then invited to a youth camp. There, I learned that we humans flee from God a lot- just like Jonah in the belly of the whale. And that even when we sin and run in the opposite direction of Christ, he still finds us. That he calls us chosen, calls us his. That by his name I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and I'll forever be his.
Now? I've been reading my bible daily, praying daily, and I've been healed. I've spent my whole life running from Jesus, only to discover that he was with me... all along.
