Michael

My testimony is quite long, but essentially, it starts from when I was about 10 years old. My dad’s side of the family is Protestant Christians, but my mum’s side is more agnostic.

During my parents’ marriage, there were a lot of fights, and often they were quite aggressive and sometimes violent. And it was during one of these confrontations that I had to stand up to my Dad while I was only 12, and stop him from entering the house.

From that point on, until I was 14, I staunchly rejected Christianity as a whole because I couldn’t understand why God would allow this to happen. Then, when I moved to Bangkok, I started feeling suicidal. Before I could act on these feelings, I asked God for a sign, because I wanted some sort of assurance that what I was doing was worth it.

When I went to sleep that night, I had a dream where I encountered a bright light. And the light said to me, “I have seen you from the balcony, and I have seen your efforts. I was with you in your darkest moments, and I will always be with you in your darkest moments. I have seen you, and I have loved you before you were even born.”

After I asked who he was, he said, “I am who I am. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. You know who I am, and your family has testified on my behalf.” And in that moment, I saw memories and places filled with lots of natural imagery. And I saw a great tower, which I’m still not sure exactly what it was.

And after all that had happened, he said to me, “Take up your cross, and follow me.” After the dream, I started reading the Bible, and I recognized some of the things he said to me, especially in Acts and all sorts of texts in the New Testament. And from there, I’ve grown to become a believer in Jesus Christ.
